Harry Broadbent

Harry Broadbent stepped into the fold during a pivotal moment in the band's history, bringing vintage keyboard mastery and rich vocal harmonies to their second chapter.

The 2006 Reformation

When Kula Shaker reformed in 2006, founding organist Jay Darlington was committed as touring keyboardist for Oasis. Broadbent stepped in seamlessly, mastering the lightning-fast modal runs and vintage organ riffs of the band’s 1990s catalogue while immediately bringing an earthy, rhythm-and-blues edge to live stages across the UK, Europe, and Japan.

Vintage Hammond, Piano & Harmonies

Far from a temporary touring stand-in, Broadbent became an integral creative partner across three studio albums: Strangefolk (2007), Pilgrims Progress (2010), and K 2.0 (2016). His Hammond swells propelled rockers like "Second Sight" and "Out On The Highway," while his delicate acoustic grand piano anchored pastoral ballads such as "Peter Pan R.I.P." and "Ophelia." Alongside his keyboard work, Broadbent’s rich backing vocals served as a vital dynamic foil to Crispian Mills throughout his sixteen-year tenure.

Session Craft & Other Projects

A versatile multi-instrumentalist and collaborator, Broadbent has worked widely across the British music circuit, lending his piano, organ, and vocal arrangement talents to various independent acts, live outfits, and studio sessions outside his lengthy run with Kula Shaker.
